Many of you have inquired with various questions about our event. For those new to the Startup Weekend concept, you should view this 3 minute video from the legendary Steve Blank. On Friday evening about 6pm at Connective Hub in Addison, people will gather to mingle and meet the other entrepreneurial people that have chosen to join you on this journey. After opening remarks, we’ll have 2 speakers, followed by the main event. Anyone that wishes will have 60 seconds to pitch their favorite new idea to the crowd. After the pitches, you’ll mingle while lobbying others to join your cause. Popular vote will determine which ideas will continue into the weekend. If your idea isn’t selected, you are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to join another team. Because this is really all about the journey. On Saturday, work continues on into Sunday. Sunday late morning, you’ll begin to really feel the pressure. You’ll be presenting to a panel of judges on Sunday evening. They’ll determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on 3 criteria: Customer Validation, Business Model, and Execution. Prizes will be announced later. But remember, the real prize is the pride and satisfaction of what you’ve accomplished in just 54 hours, as well as the valuable relationships you’ll have just forged.
